New Bonus Point System
I welcome input to this system change, but I do think that we want to slightly modify the bonus point arrangement. The purpose of the bonus point system is to let everybody improve his prospects and also to give the bottom teams a little help rebuilding. The problem is a team locked in last place for three years could pile up 24 bonus points. That would probably be enough for them to make all their hitters brilliant at getting hits and all their pitchers brilliant at avoiding hits. This eliminates a lot of strategy from the game.
Awarding Bonus Points
The first big change is that now that we have 8 teams per division, the last place team in each league will get 8 bonus points instead of 6. This isn’t a big change, but will help overcome some of the extra cost of the other changes.
First Place – 1 Bonus Point
Second Place – 2 Bonus Points
Third Place – 3 Bonus Points
Fourth Place – 4 Bonus Points
Fifth Place – 5 Bonus Points
Sixth Place – 6 Bonus Points
Seventh Place – 7 Bonus Points
Eighth Place – 8 Bonus Points

Fictional Players
Every year we have been adding 6 fictional players to the amateur draft to spice things up with the likes of Sid Finch and Roy Hobbs. There are only two more fictional players who are likely to dominate as much as Finch and Hobbs (Joe Hardy and King Kelly). However, I would like to expand this to 8 fictional players since the league is expanding to 16 teams. It’ll help to keep the draft class strong.
